Fondren Library
Located on the university’s academic quad, facing Lovett Hall, Fondren Library provides access to scholarly information, research support, library instruction, and computing and study facilities.
What’s there:
Named for: Walter and Ella Cochrum Fondren. Walter led Humble Oil (now Exxon-Mobil) from 1912 until his retirement in 1933. Following Walter’s death, Ella and her children donated $1 million to establish Fondren Library.
Built: 1949, Staub & Rather, William Ward Watkin consulting architect; 1968 expansion, Staub, Rather & Howze
