Herzstein Hall
Known to generations of Rice alumni simply as the Physics Building, the building was renamed in 1998. It was the first building constructed on campus after the original four structures in place when the Rice Institute opened in 1912, and the second building built on the academic quadrangle.
What’s there: Faculty offices for departments of Physics and Astronomy and Political Science, classrooms, Herzstein Amphitheater (formerly Physics Amphitheater)
Named for: Philanthropists Albert and Ethel Avis Herzstein
