St. Joseph's University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state-designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures.
Since its founding as a twelve-bed hospital in 1867, St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center has grown to become one of the largest medical centers in New Jersey. With more than 1.6 million patient visits per year, the hospital is the hub of the St. Joseph's Healthcare System, which provides a full spectrum of outstanding healthcare services. With more than 1,200 medical staff members and 5,000 employees, St. Joseph's Healthcare System is the largest employer in Passaic County, the second largest provider of charity care in New Jersey, and the healthcare provider of choice for residents of the region.
