Smith's outdoor athletic fields include 25 acres of some of the finest grass fields in North America, crew facilities and boathouses on campus and on the nearby Connecticut River, a three-quarter-mile cinder jogging track and a 5,000-meter cross-country course. A 400-meter, all-weather outdoor track, lighted tennis courts, the first regulation croquet court at a U.S. college and a softball field with a “skinned” infield round out the college's extensive athletic offerings.
