    1. Jordan House

Jordan, Cushing and Emerson were the first houses completed in the Quad, opening in 1922. Jordan House was named for Mary Augusta Jordan, one of the first American women scholars and an English professor at Smith from 1884 to 1921. Today, approximately 80 students live in the single and double rooms in Jordan. The building boasts a cozy living room—a favorite gathering place for residents.

Jordan House is home to the student-run kosher cooperative kitchen ("The K"), which serves as a cooking, dining and meeting facility for anyone interested in Jewish tradition and community. A weekly Shabbat dinner and other events are held during the academic year.
