Held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving, America's largest perimeter bicycling event – 104, 75, 55 and 40 miles plus 10, 5, and ¼-mile Fun Rides. A super lineup of unique features includes: Two-day Bike EXPO, exciting mass-start spectacle, chip timing, Mariachis at the first of two (usually dry) river crossings, route stations with water and snacks spaced about 7-10 miles apart, Bike Patrol and SAG support, full police support at intersections, plenty of morale-boosting volunteers and spectators, Olympic-style medallions to all finishers and an unforgettable finish-line festival with Beer Garden, music, massages, etc. Main event routes show off Tucson’s beautiful vistas of its local mountain ranges - three rising over 9,000 feet - complete with the backdrop of the mighty Saguaro cactus. The Fun Rides offer easy and exciting routes that highlight some of Downtown Tucson’s cultural attractions. Proceeds go to Special Olympics, and more than 35 other charitable agencies including Tu Nidito Children & Family Services, American Parkinson Disease Association, Ben’s Bells Project, Diamond Children’s Medical Center, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
