        Inscription on plaque in front of sculpture: Dedicated to the memory of those men and women who came to the northwest and created a state, finding their livelihood and their way of life in the great forests.

        Presented to Lane Community College by the sculptor, Bruce Dean, in observance of the 200th anniversary of the American Revolution. LCC Bicentennial Committee, November 21, 1975.
