The program consists of an intensive, four-week cross-cultural experience in one of the world's most beautiful countries. With a strong emphasis on the indigenous Maori culture and encountering New Zealand history, the program introduces students to the multi-faceted history and contemporary context of this exciting country. The program includes weekend excursions to Rotorua, the fabulous Bay of Islands.
Classes are held on the Auckland satellite campus of Otago University. The facilities are housed in a beautiful, new building with state-of-the-art classrooms that are only a short walk from the hotel where LMU students stay. The Loyola Marymount University program has its own classroom, including generous and easy access to the Internet. Not far is the University of Auckland, and AUT (Auckland University of Technology) where students can access library facilities, as well as participate in student life in cafes, theater and musical productions, as available. Furthermore, the program is housed near the main city center where shopping, entertainment and outdoor markets are all available. The Auckland bus and train system is famously affordable and efficient, allowing students to explore the city and its neighborhoods, including a world-class museums, nearby islands, and a great zoo.
