This semester- or year-long exchange program brings students to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), a comprehensive research university. CUHK is located in the Sha Tin district of Hong Kong. The Sha Tin is one of the 18 districts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The district is Hong Kong's most densely populated and the well-developed Sha Tin New Town sits along the banks of the Shing Mun river channel.
Most undergraduate exchange students can take a maximum of 6 units of Chinese Proficiency courses (2 courses) in each term. The Yale-China Chinese Language Centre (CLC) offers Cantonese and Putonghua courses at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. Students can also enjoy a full range of cultural, extra-curricular and sports activities at CUHK to supplement their academic life. Through these activities, students learn about the culture of Hong Kong and China, make friends with local students, and get immersed in the local student life.
