      1. Florence: LMU Summer in Tuscany

The LMU Summer in Tuscany program is based in Florence, the largest and most-famous city in the Tuscany region. In addition to unlimited opportunities to experience Italian history and contemporary culture, Florence is near other cities of interest such as Rome, Venice, Lucca and Assisi. The focus of the LMU Summer in Tuscany program is art and the courses offered are theoretical and practical. The program is designed for art and art history majors and minors. However, the courses are also meant to help fulfill core requirements and electives for non-majors as well. Art majors, minors and nonmajors alike are encouraged to apply. The Summer in Tuscany program offers students the opportunity to study major works of Western art and architecture and to have a studio experience in either drawing or bookmaking. In addition to the academics, participants will have ample time to experience both historic and contemporary Italian culture. The five-week academic program is based in Florence and includes group excursions to other Tuscan cities. Students are expected to participate in all planned activities and excursions.
