The James H. McBride Arboretum, established in 1984, was named in honor of the first dean of the BGSU Firelands. The site has grown to approximately 57 acres of lakes and trails, meadows and woodlands, formal and ornamental plantings. Most areas of the arboretum contain plants native to the Firelands area of Ohio. The arboretum is maintained by the Erie County Metro Parks.
