    1. Composting Site

      The UM Compost Program's compost piles are located behind the Maynard W. Quimby Medicinal Plant Garden building. The finished product, a nutrient-dense soil amendment, is distributed to campus gardens and sold to community members for use in their gardens. Since its creation in 2013, the UM Compost Program, funded by the UM Green Fund, has composted more than 34,000 pounds of food waste that would have otherwise been landfilled.
