      The Hurley Room is located in the lower level in the Cannon Student Center in the annex, which was added in 2008. The room features tables and seating for 25 people and is commonly used for banquets, conferences, and other small group events.

      The room is named in honor of James F. Hurley, III, a native of Salisbury. Hurley graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 1949 and from UNC Chapel Hill in 1953 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is a U.S. Army veteran who served between 1953 and 1955. A longtime benefactor of Catawba College, he joined the College Board of Trustees in 1977 and served as its chairman. Catawba recognized him in 1976, awarding him an Honorary Doctorate of Letters. In 1986, he was awarded Catawba's Adrian L. Shuford, Jr. Award for Distinguished Service. He chaired Catawba's Campaign for Excellence between 1986 and 1989.
