    Take a walk around campus and see academic buildings, student life locations and residence halls!

    Stops

    1. Tour Start: Admissions and Seminary Hall

      Most visitors begin their tour in the Office of Admissions in Seminary Hall.

       

      Seminary also houses financial aid, and functions as a residence hall for 80 first-year students.

    2. Founders Hall

      Across the arched walkway you'll find Founders Hall, home to Ascension Chapel. Offices in this building include the Registrar, President, Dean of Students, Provost, Chaplain, Counseling Services and Communication and Marketing.
    3. Brunner Theater Center

      Down the staircase from Founders Hall is The Kim and Donna Brunner Theatre Center and the Wilson Center. Brunner is home to the college's Department of Theatre Arts and houses the Brunner Main Stage and Heidi A. Honkamp Myhre Black Box.

      The college bookstore, snack bar and student mailboxes are located on the lower level.

      Adjacent to Brunner is the Wilson Center, which houses professional events on campus.
    4. Sorensen Hall

      Sorensen Hall is across the pedestrian bridge from the College Center. Sorenson is home to Information Technology Services, where students can receive technology assistance and check out equipment.

       

      Other offices include Alumni Relations, Advancement, Business, Facilities, Bulk Mail and Receiving, the Copy Center and Public Safety.

    5. Centennial Hall

      Across 38th Street is Centennial Hall, Augustana's largest performance and event space. The auditorium seats more than 1,600. The Ticket Office is located on the main floor.

      Centennial also houses the Augustana Teaching Museum of Art.
    6. Bergendoff Hall of Fine Arts

      Next door to Centennial Hall, Bergendoff Hall of Fine Arts is home to music, art history and theatre departments.

       

      Bergendoff contains classrooms, music studios, the Freistat Piano Lab, computer/listening lab, band and orchestra rooms, and private music practice rooms. 

       

      Two auditoriums — Potter Hall (for dramatic productions) and Larson Hall (for choral rehearsals, recitals, lectures and classes) — are here.

    7. Carlsson Evald Hall

      Farther down 7th Avenue, Carlsson Evald Hall houses offices and classrooms for  accounting, business administration, economics, education, psychology,  and sociology, anthropology and social welfare. 
    8. Old Main

      Across 7th Avenue sits Old Main, a landmark since 1883.

       

      Offices and classrooms for Classics, English, philosophy, history, communication studies, multi-media journalism and mass communication, political science, women's and gender studies, and religion are here.

       

      The student newspaper, the Augustana Observer, and student radio station, WAUG, have offices in Old Main.

    9. Denkmann Memorial Building

      Next door to Old Main, the Denkmann Memorial Building houses offices and facilities for foreign languages, and Wallenberg Hall, a concert and lecture hall seating approximately 320.

       

      Also located in Denkmann is the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center.

       

    10. Hanson Hall of Science

      The Hanson Hall of Science is home to classrooms and facilities for biology, biochemistry, chemistry and physics. 


      Many students in the health sciences take classes in Hanson Hall, which is equipped with a human cadaver lab.  

      Faculty offices and conference rooms for the departments are in a three-story atrium topped by a skylight dome.

    11. Olin Center

      The first and third floors of the Olin Center are occupied by CORE (Careers, Opportunities, Research and Exploration). The second floor houses the departments of mathematics and computer science.


      CORE's offices and departments include advising, career development, the Upper Mississippi River Center, the Entrepreneurial Center (EDGE) and more.

    12. Thomas Tredway Library

      The Thomas Tredway Library subscribes to more than 100 electronic databases and offers a large collection of both print and electronic books, periodicals, audio-visual materials and maps.

       

      Group study areas, computer labs and quiet study zones are available throughout the building.

       

      The library also houses Augustana’s Special Collections, which includes rare books, manuscripts and the college archives. 

       

      The library opened in September 1990. In 2003, it was named in honor of Dr. Thomas Tredway, who served as Augustana's seventh president from 1975-2003. The library was renovated in 2013 as part of The Gerber Center for Student Life construction.

    13. Gerber Center for Student Life

      The Gerber Center for Student Life includes the Thomas Tredway Library, dining center and Brew by the Slough coffee shop.

       

      Offices include Student Life, Intercultural Student Life, International Student Life, Student Activities and the  Reading/Writing Center.

       

      The center also provides study spaces and computer labs. The large Gävle Room offers space for conferences, performances and student activity.

    14. Betsy Brodahl Building

      The Betsey Brodahl Building houses the department of communication sciences and disorders and the Center for Speech, Language and Hearing, where students and faculty provide assessment and intervention services for the community.
    15. Westerlin Residence Center

      Westerlin Residence Center is Augustana's largest hall, housing 455 male and female students divided among three wings: Jenny Lind, Immanuel, and Westerlin.

       

      It features a fitness center, spacious main lounge and TV area. As the upper-campus residential hub, it offers extended service desk hours starting at noon.

       

      Westerlin is located near PepsiCo Recreation Center and houses primarily first-year and sophomore students.

    17. Erickson Residence Center

      The Knut Erickson Residence Center is adjacent to Westerlin Center and is a co-ed building, housing 350 students in three wings.
    18. Swanson Commons

      The Duane R. Swanson Commons accommodates first-year students in two-room suites adjoined by a shared restroom in its east wing.

       

      The southwest wing houses juniors in apartment-style units known as transitional living areas (TLAs), offering them an opportunity for a more independent living experience.

       

      Swanson Commons is Augustana's newest residence hall. It opened its doors to 240 residents in August 2006.

    20. John Deere Planetarium

      The John Deere Planetarium, covered by a 30-foot dome, is on the main floor of the building, as well as a large science lecture hall. The building is connected to the Swenson Hall of Geosciences by an underground tunnel.
    21. Swenson Hall of Geosciences

      The departments of geography and geology are located in Swenson Hall of Geosciences.

       

      The hall has a geographic information systems (GIS) lab for students and faculty to use.

       

      It's also the home of the Fryxell Geology Museum.
