Morocco and Spain: Jews, Christians, and Muslims

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam share a long history of interactions in these regions dating back to the 8th century, when much of the Iberian Peninsula came under the control of Muslims who crossed the Strait of Gibraltar from Morocco.  The class will visit historical sites and active communities in Marrakech, Casablanca, and Fes in Morocco.  The class will then cross the Gibraltar by ferry into Spain and explore historical, architectural, and cultural sites in Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Toledo, and Madrid.
