Costa Rica & Panama: Diverse Cultural Perspectives (SPA 271/471 or Latin American Studies 220—no Spanish required)
This is an academic travel course through breathtaking scenery, stirring cultural immersion, and immense biodiversity. Through classroom activities, homestays, and excursions, students have the opportunity to walk under tropical rainforest canopies, interview locals, visit coffee plantations, and hike along the beaches of Costa Rica and Panama. The class will travel to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, the San Ramon coffee region, the Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo, Limon, the islands of Bocas del Toro, Panama, and the city of San José.
