Blackstone Hall houses Sisters Theatre, a new black-box performance space championed by longtime Berry supporters and sisters Audrey Morgan and Dr. M Bobbie Bailey. Construction on Sisters Theatre was completed in 2017 and hosts performances by the Berry College Theatre Company. The space includes seating for up to 276 patrons and enlarged and updated production areas in Blackstone Hall as well.
Built in 1915, Blackstone Hall has a rich history as the first permanent brick building on Berry’s campus. Mrs. Isabella Blackstone, who owned the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago, donated funds for the building, which originally housed a Dining Hall on the first floor and a library on the second floor. In the 1980s the space was renovated as the E.H. Young Theatre, a precursor to the newly opened Sisters Theatre that currently occupies the space.
