The chapel serves as the heart and soul of the Elmhurst campus. Students gather here regularly for everything from worship services to orchestral and choral concerts and the annual Festival of Lessons and Carols.
Hammerschmidt also hosts lectures by nationally and internationally known speakers. Recent lecturers include Bill Nye, Sandra Day O’Connor, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Several academic departments have offices and classrooms in Hammerschmidt, including English and philosophy.
