After observing boys performing gymnastic feats without shoes and in bib overalls in the 1911-built Pentecost Gymnasium, a prominent and generous donor gifted $50,000 to Martha Berry for a new facility. Students used the donation to construct the Memorial Gymnasium in 1937 and in 1986 it was renovated through donations by the Roy Richards estate. Roy Richards Memorial Gymnasium was given new life after months of interior and exterior renovations in 2013. Now housing a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning room, an athletic training room and Viking-themed locker rooms for football, men's and women's lacrosse and tennis, Richards Gym is open to all students. The recent renovations are again thanks to generous Berry donors.
