3911 Mt. Vernon This building is home to the Department of Chemistry and Physics and the Department of Environmental Science Studies. At the University, chemistry, biochemistry and physics are consolidated into one department.
The Chemistry and Physics Department is accredited by the American Chemical Society. Students who take the full ACS-approved curriculum in chemistry or biochemistry will be certified by the ACS, which provides a widely recognized verification of the quality of your education. The ACS student chapter has won many awards over the last 10 years. In 2013, ACS won the outstanding chapter award.
The Environmental Studies program is unique among environmental programs in the United States; it educates students about the moral imperative to care for the earth, especially as advanced by Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. It offers different campus activities such as the Annual Earth Day Lecture, Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students, Campus Recycling and UST Community Vegetable Garden.
The hall was named in memory of Corbin Robertson, the late husband of Wilhemina Cullen Robertson, one of the major benefactors of the University. Groundbreaking for the building was held on Nov. 22, 1992; it was dedicated on Sept. 30, 1994.
