      1. Cady Mall

Cady Mall is the main north-south walkway within the Tempe campus. In 1968, a section of College Avenue was converted into the mall to eliminate drive-through traffic and make the growing campus pedestrian friendly.

Originally named University Mall, it was renamed in honor of Gilbert L. Cady in the early 1970s. Cady was comptroller and vice president of business affairs during the Grady Gammage and Homer Durham presidencies. The centerpiece of the mall also bears his name: Cady Fountain.

University buildings along Cady Mall include Business Administration, Discovery Hall, Memorial Union, Interdisciplinary A & B, Hayden Library, Danforth Chapel, Matthews Center, Social Sciences, School of Human Origins and Social Change, Durham Language and Literature, Cowden Family Resources and Global Institute of Sustainability. The Student Services Lawn and Hayden Lawn are also situated along Cady Mall.
