Stauffer Hall A-wing is home to the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication and the Consortium for Strategic Communication. The consortium focuses on the role of communication in combating terrorism, promoting national security and engages in international public diplomacy.
The Digital Culture Initiative is housed in the B-wing of Stauffer Hall, and is a multidisciplinary, collaborative program which benefits from a broad spectrum of resources and faculty members from across the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts engaging schools, the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the W. P. Carey School of Business, the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. One section of B-wing supports ASU TV and television services from the Journalism school.
The building honors Charles A. Stauffer, an alumnus of ASU, who was the former owner and publisher of the Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette newspapers, and was built in 1973.
