University Drive Improvements
Boise State is working with the Ada County Highway District (ACHD), Kittelson Engineering, and a broad stakeholder team to re-design University Drive between Lincoln Avenue and Brady Street. The project was enabled by an approved lane reallocation from ACHD. The goal of the project is to take the reallocated right-of-way, and develop significant infrastructure improvements for pedestrians and other non-motorists. Concepts include improved pedestrian crossing, protected bike lanes, floating transit stops and wider sidewalks. The corridor would also receive numerous aesthetic improvements from plantings and other campus-appropriate landscaping in medians and planter strips. It’s likely (funding dependent) that the first phase will be an improved pedestrian crossing at Theatre Lane that begins to include some of the corridor-wide elements in the overall plan.
