Built in 1922 during one of Florida's land booms, this red brick house on East Michigan Avenue was originally home to early circuit court judge James W. Perkins. The two-story house has more than 4,000 square feet and features a full, unfinished basement that once housed the university's on-campus nightclub. Named the Cellar Door, the nightclub was in operation from about 1967 to 1975. Remnants of the club’s furnishings still survive today. The building now houses the Office of University Marketing, which is responsible for the university's print and web publications, as well as community and public relations and events management.
