This academic building was erected in 1967 as an early home for the business school. It is named after the Davis family of Jacksonville. The four Davis brothers, who at that time were the largest stockholders of Winn-Dixie Stores, contributed $500,000 toward construction costs. One of the brothers, A. Darins Davis, spoke at the dedication ceremonies held on Nov. 27, 1967. The names of all the donors are listed on a dedicatory plaque at the building’s entrance. Today, Davis Hall is home to several academic programs housed within the College of Arts and Sciences.
