Opened in 1931, Craven Quad is named for Braxton Craven, whose 40 years of labors in Randolph County built the base for the present university.  From 1842-82, Craven helped create the first degree-granting teachers college in the South, then transformed it into a liberal arts institution.  Craven is one of six residential quadrangles, or quads, on West Campus. Craven Quad contains Buildings A-F, R-Z, and AA and is home to approximately 430 sophomore, junior and senior students.
