Old Admin Plaza Plantings
To celebrate CSC’s 100th anniversary in 2011 a bronze statue, “The Muses,” was commissioned and a mixed shrub border background planted near the open gathering space between Old Admin and Sparks Hall. Starting in early spring, masses of shrubs and small ornamental trees come into bloom in succession: starting with “Autumn Brilliance” serviceberry and native redbud trees, then “Spring Snow” crabapples and wild golden currants. Summer starts with “Nearly Wild” roses, fragrant “Miss Kim” Manchurian lilac, and “Buckley’s Quill” dwarf mock orange. In autumn, American hazelnuts and Ohio buckeye color the landscape in orange and coral colors.
