Fifty acres on the hilly east end of campus capture every drop of rain on the site, either soaking it into fields of native grasses, or detaining it in swales, or ditches. Rather than send the captured rainfall into the city storm system, the swales hold the needed moisture in place long enough to soak into the ground, watering the windbreak trees planted nearby.
