Woody shrubs native to the region stand beneath mature honey locust trees along Main Street near the Sandoz Center. Wild plums, sand cherries, buffalo berries and golden currants bloom each spring to produce summer fruit.
Not only was the meat plenty but there were parfleches of dried plums and fox grapes and buffalo berries … all these things and many more the earth gave the Lakota.
