Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is one of the Divine Nine National Pan-Hellenic Council sororities and was founded on November 12, 1922 at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Founded by seven educators, the sorority prides themselves on sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
On April 5, 2014, the Sigma Psi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. received their charter to officially become a member of the Stetson Greek Community. Charter members Ambreshia Landrum, Cydney Price, Danielle Green, Alexis Skopos, Felicia Hall and Bria Parrish received their charter on this plot of land. Because of its significance, this land shall forever be known as the Poodle Promenade.
Historically, this small platform was a part of the Forest of Arden and has been used for commencement ceremonies, theater performances and holiday programs. It was constructed in the 1940s, and brick pavers and railings were added in the 2000s. The exact location of the Forest of Arden space shifted to the south and east over time.
