    1. Gross Hall for Interdisciplinary Innovation

      Paul M. Gross Hall, at the northwest corner of Science and Towerview, was named for long-time Chemistry Department Chairman Paul Gross. The 146,400-square-foot building opened in 1968. The building was renovated and repurposed in 2013.

      The Foundry

      The Foundry is 7,600 square feet of project space in the lower level of Gross Hall for Duke students focused on engineering, energy, entrepreneurship, and sustainability to build their ideas from the ground up. Facility features include 10 project rooms set around a 2,400-square-foot flexible open-plan workspace with a 25-foot ceiling, tables and chairs, storage lockers, whiteboards and an 80-inch digital display. The Foundry’s entrance is located to the right of the Science Drive front of Gross Hall.
